Costa is reporting that its bookings for Easter are projected to be better than 2011.  Popular with Easter cruisers are mini-cruises that offer vacationers a quick getaway when they only have limited time.  Currently Costa has five ships operating in the Mediterranean with Easter itineraries varying from 5- to 11- days visiting many Eastern and Western Mediterranean ports.

In other news, Costa plans on expanding its port facilities at Savona, one of its most important home ports. Plans are currently being drawn up that will see the capacity double by August 2013.  Costa has sailed from Savona since 1996 and enjoys a strong working relationship with the local community.  Costa Crociere President Giannia Onorato was joined by the Mayor of Savona Federico Berruti and Savona Chamber President Luciano Pasquale along with other Savona dignitaries for the announcement.

Construction will commence at the end of April after a contractor is appointed and is expected to be completed in August 2013, in time for the peak Savona cruise season.
